IMPACT OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY ON TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESSES IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Area: Department of Education
Abstract: The integration of educational technology (EdTech) into higher education has fundamentally transformed traditional pedagogical paradigms worldwide. This study investigates the impact of EdTech tools including Learning Management Systems (LMS), AI-enabled adaptive platforms, mobile learning applications, and virtual classrooms on teaching-learning processes in higher education institutions. Two hypotheses were tested: H₁ posits that educational technology significantly enhances student engagement and academic performance; H₂ posits that faculty adoption of EdTech positively and significantly influences teaching effectiveness. A descriptive-quantitative research design was employed, utilizing secondary data from peer-reviewed Google Scholar-indexed studies and verified institutional databases covering 2019–2025. Statistical hypothesis testing was conducted using chi-square (χ²) analysis at significance level α = 0.05. Results confirm both hypotheses: H₁ (χ² = 6.798, p < 0.05) and H₂ (χ² = 45.466, p < 0.05), with both null hypotheses rejected. LMS usage improved learning outcomes by 10–20%, AI tools boosted performance by 25%, and 65% of faculty reported improved teaching effectiveness. The study concludes that strategic, infrastructure-backed EdTech integration yields substantial pedagogical gains, with critical implications for higher education systems in India.
