STUDY ON COMPOSITE AND NANOMATERIALS: PROPERTIES, APPLICATIONS, AND PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT

Area: Department of Mechanical Engineering
Abstract: Composite and nanomaterials have emerged as advanced engineering materials due to their superior mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties compared to conventional materials. Composite materials are formed by combining two or more different materials to achieve enhanced strength, stiffness, durability, and resistance to environmental conditions. The main components of composites include the matrix and reinforcement, which work together to improve overall material performance. These materials are widely used in aerospace, automotive, construction, and structural applications due to their high strength-to-weight ratio and reliability. Nanomaterials, with dimensions in the range of 1 to 100 nanometers, exhibit unique physical and chemical properties due to their high surface area and nanoscale effects. The incorporation of nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes, graphene, and nanoparticles into composite materials results in nanocomposites with significantly improved mechanical strength, thermal stability, electrical conductivity, and durability. These materials are increasingly used in electronics, biomedical devices, energy storage, and environmental applications. This study focuses on the properties, performance, and applications of composite and nanomaterials. It also highlights the advantages, challenges, and future potential of these advanced materials in modern engineering. The results indicate that nanomaterial reinforcement significantly enhances the overall performance of composite materials, making them suitable for next-generation engineering applications.
